Understand there’re different types of English. The way Brits speak is different from Americans. A Yorkshire person will sound quite different from someone from the South. A London East Ender will sound quite different from a person from the West End. Americans from the South would speak quite different than Californians and so on. Besides accents, expressions differ from one location to another. I grew up in the American South, and my wife who’s from California still has trouble understanding some of my English expressions. Soon, you’ll learn new accents and expressions. You'll stumble along the way too. Enjoy the process.
